The Sinkhole

Personal Project - Unreal Engine - Third Person Mystery Adventure

 

The Sinkhole appeared suddenly, devouring the town above it.

Mystical crystals that has a floating property were revealed in the depths - they where probably the cause for the ground becoming porous, researchers believe.

Rumors in town talk about a mythical world hidden deeper below.

Key Pillars:

  • The Floating Crystals - they are everywhere, the ones that doesn't support floating islands, are processed in the Factory

  • A Mining Town - mostly miners and their families live here

  • Depth - the Player is always reminded of the abyss below

As you walk from the top of the town stairs lead downwards, inwards and under. - in that way enforcing the sense of depth, one of the key pillars

The player is able to enter several richly decorated houses, giving a sense that even the closed ones are actually possible to enter (they're not). 

I love decorating spaces that feels like actual people live in them.

I did a lot of work making both ways around Lower Town feel nice, with leading lines and making sure the Crystal Factory was seen from both ways.
